The end of appeasement and the outbreak of war

The German occupation of the remaining part of Czechoslovakia in March 1939 marked the end of appeasement. The policy had not stopped Hitler. Now Britain and France incresed the rate at which they rearmed and promised to defend Poland if it was invaded by Germany.
