Why had international peace collapsed by 1939?

By 1928, many countries seemed to be recovering well from the effects of the First World War. However, by 1939, much of the world was at war again. In this unit you will look at how the effects of the depression and a series of international disputes and problems led to the outbreak of war. In particular you will consider the role of Adolf Hitler in causing war.
